Ellicott Mills Middle School is one of 19 middle schools part of the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS).  The school was opened in 1939; however the replacement building opened in 2001. It is located in Ellicott City, MD and currently has 772 students enrolled.  Ellicott Mills’s mission statement is “to ensure that each student meets or exceeds rigorous performance standards so they may actively participate in a diverse and changing world.”  Ellicott Mills believes “children are [the] community’s most valued assets.”  Ellicott Mills Middle was honored with the National Blue Ribbon School Award (2010), and the award Healthy Howard School (2012-13).

Maryland’s Department of Education issues a school report card for all Maryland State Public Schools.  This report card displays information regarding the most recently-reported testing achievement information on the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) for Ellicott Mills Middle School.  Students receive a rating of ‘Basic,’ ‘Proficient,’ or ‘Advanced’ depending on their performance on the assessment (reading and math for all grades, science for 8th grade only).  For the 2012-13 testing school year, more than 83% of all students at Burleigh Manor Middle grades 6-8 received a ‘Proficient’ or ‘Advanced’ rating on the math portion of the MSA.  More than 93% of all students received the same rating for the reading portion of the MSA, and 91.9% of all eighth grade students received the same rating for the science MSA.  You can view Ellicott Mills Middle’s MSDE report card here.
