Lisbon Elementary School is located in Woodbine, MD., and is part of the Howard County Public School System (HCPSS).  The facility was opened in 1976, and was recently renovated in 2006.  For the 2012-13 school year, 398 students were enrolled.  According to the HCPSS school profile for Lisbon, the school’s mission statement is “to nurture a culture of pride that supports lifelong learning and inspires students, staff, and families to do their best.” Lisbon Elementary is also a Healthy Howard School (2012-13), and has received recognition as a Green School.  It also holds the status of PBIS Gold Recognition School (2012).  Lisbon Elementary has an active PTA, with over 351 members.

Maryland’s Department of Education issues a school ‘report card’ for all Maryland State Public Schools.  This report card displays information regarding the most recently-reported testing achievement information on the Maryland State Assessment (MSA) for Lisbon Elementary.  Students in grades 3-5 receive a rating of ‘Basic,’ ‘Proficient,’ or ‘Advanced’ depending on their performance on the assessment (Math and Reading for Grades 3-4, Science for Grade 5 only).  For the most recently reported testing year, more than 87.8% of students in Grade 3 received a ‘Proficient’ or ‘Advanced’ rating on the Math and Reading portions of the assessment.  More than 95% of all Grade 4 students received the same rating for both sections.  For Grade 5, 89% of students received an ‘Advanced’ or ‘Proficient’ rating on the Math and Science exams, and more than 95% received the same rating for the Reading portion.  You can view Lisbon Elementary’s Maryland State Report Card here.
