Matthew’s 1600 Restaurant & Bar is not only a great sit-down restaurant experience for regular social gatherings, a casual business lunch, or maybe a celebratory dinner, but also an intriguing piece of Catonsville & Baltimore history.  The current restaurant as it stands today is much larger than the original piece of architecture which once stood there, The Terminal Hotel.  The hotel served as an end-point of the Frederick Road horse-car line.  From that point forward, the building underwent several renovations to accommodate changes of technology advancement, including the incorporation of electricity and outmoded methods of transportation at the end of 19th Century.  The building has been expanded multiple times, and has experienced several name changes as the property shifted ownership.  However, the building was always utilized as a locally owned inn or hotel until 2003.  At that time, the building underwent major renovation and upgrades.  In the summer of 2004, it was opened as Matthew’s 1600 Restaurant & Bar, and is owned and operated by the Parsons family.  Located on the brink of the west side of Catonsville, Matthew’s 1600 Restaurant & Bar is one of the most eye-catching landmarks as you travel due east along Frederick Road (MD Rt. 144)

If you’d like to make a reservation, you can contact the restaurant at (410) 788-2500.  If you’d like to learn more about the provided services and/or history of the restaurant, you can visit the website to see a gallery of the new renovated dining areas, or to plan a large event for your next milestone celebration!  You can also send inquires to matthews1600@verizon.net
