The local high schools, Hammond High and Reservoir High, are two of Howard County Public School System’s (HCPSS) 12 high schools. For the past three years, Hammond High has approximately 60%-70% of its student population participate in standardized testing such as the SAT. With approximately 15% of its students participating in Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the last three school years, around 20% of participating students received a 4 or 5 on the exams, and a little more than approximately 25% of participating students in the past three years received a 3 on the exam.
Reservoir High has had approximately 65%-75% of its student population participate in standardized testing such as the SAT. With approximately 17%-22% of its students participating in Advanced Placement (AP) exams in the last three school years, around 21%-23% of participating students received a 4 or 5 on the exams, and approximately 29% of participating students received a 3 on the exam. The Howard County Library System was selected as the 2013 Library Journal (LJ)/Gale Library of the Year. In North Laurel, part of Howard County, the Laurel Branch of the Howard County Library System has is currently being renovated, and will be reopened in the fall of 2014.
